I am very thrilled. It's historic and she's perfect for it. To be honest, I knew who she was but didn't know much about her until I noticed the Republicans slamming her a few weeks back and decided that made her worth looking into. Anyone they hate THAT much has got to have something going for her lol. I did see her on an interview (60 minutes I think) and I was impressed by her and what she had to say about the Bush Administration. A very savvy lady with a sharp tongue and a quick mind that seems determined to be fair and balanced. I saw her again on TV today speaking out to the Republicans and George Bush to work on a bipartisan level with the new majority. I learned that she has almost single-handedly forged a new unity among the Democrats in Congress, when it comes to voting and speaking out with one voice. I think she's going to be the main voice of reason coming from the Congress in the coming two years, at least.
It gave me a fit of giggles when I heard that Bush has already invited her to lunch. Wow, what I would give to be that proverbial mouse in the corner at that meeting.

The bar is set pretty low for her to be a beacon of bipartisanship and integrity in the role of Leader. Now lets see how well she uses the power to help others. Maybe she will be the First Woman President. She's 3rd in succession now!

You brought up a wonderful point. We need more girls in politics. I am happy for Nancy. She stuck it out during some tough times. And look at the Governor she has to put up with. She is a tough cookie and we will see some real representin' from her.

Awwwww - yur oneuv them "sensitive" guys, huh?!?
Well, bully for you; now, put your kneepads on and hustle over to Bill's crib - he's waiting for a knob-polishing job and has heard that you're the best.
"If they get even 2 of the 3 done in the next two years I'll be happy."?
You - HAPPY? That's a non-sequitur and you know it - grow up, stop dreaming, and get a life (or, better yet, a job).

I have not heard one idea from her or what direction she will go.
I am not too excited until she shows the ability to lead - which means ideas, influence and direction - other than anti-Bush.
This won't mean much if she can't make a difference - and I have my doubts - male or female the Speaker has to have substance, and I really don't see it.

I don't know too much about her...I'm going to have to do some reading.
The first female Speaker and a Democrat....I'm delighted.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
