Although I would like to completely get rid of abortion, I can't think of a way for the to be accomplished. I don't have any thoughts or solutions because it seems like there aren't any. If abortion was banned completely, we would have women getting back alley abortions or trying to perform abortions on themselves. We would have women that were pregnant with children they don't want & they would be using drugs and drinking because they could care less about the health of the child then the baby would be born deformed or retarded. It may have been better off aborted to begin with.

I just think maybe the only solution it to make it illegal to use abortion as a form of birth control. This is way out there and will never happen, but I would like to see prison time for women that continue to get pregnant only to abort (murder) the baby. Kinda like a 3 strikes law.

There need to be some laws on abortion. the way it was first put down . Women could get an abortion no questions ask as long as you were still only 3 months into it and over 18. It had to be life or death for the next 3 and never for the next 3.(If the child can live out side the woman there is no need to kill it) You just deal with a preemie. If the preemie dies you did try. This was fine with 99% of the US only when prochoice want to go up to the time the child takes it`s first breath. Then it got bad.

Abortion is a very complex issue.

There are certainly cases where the woman's health or life is a definite factor, rape or incest and other cases where abortion is simply the best answer.

However, it is not an acceptable birth control method.

I am not a lawyer or legislator, but it doesn't seem like too daunting a task to write laws that would address this controversy that could be acceptable to both sides.
Is there no middle ground here?

Pro-life has nothing to do with legislation banning abortion. That's purely an anti-choice position -- all it does is allow the government to make the decisions, rather than the individuals. And if the govt can make the decisions, they can force abortions just as easily as they can prohibit them.

Pro-life is about getting people -- individuals -- to choose life. Not through force, but by giving them other options. Taking away choice is never going to be a solution. The only solution is helping people to make more intelligent choices, without coercion.

I would only allow abortion to those who have been raped or by incest become pregnant allowed to have a abortion. Also if the mothers life is at stake.

Then I would invest huge amounts of money in an "adoption is wonderful" campaign. I'd have commercials and billboards all showing how loving and generous and selfless adoption is.

Good question! I am pro-choice, so no help to you - though I probably have a more "conservative" view of what pro-choice should mean than most.

But I like to see people actually ask questions about controversial topics instead of just name calling or making assumptions - good for you - I will check back on this one to see the answers you get.

Hopefully, most people will behave civilized and give you reasonable feedback or "food for thought

Why do we let a bunch of fat, bald old men legislate what we can do with our own bodies. It is ridiculous. My reproductive decisions are not open to discussion on the Senate floor. This concept is so wrong for 21st century women. We know how to take care of ourselves. No one has the right to legislate it. Those old buzzards in DC need to keep their nose out of my vagina. They need to provide care and services for the neglected babies and children who are already here and in need.

When the embryo becomes inplanted in the lining of the uterus, means life. Nothing should be done to stop the process unless for the safety of the mother.
