I have 4 five gallon buckets of dog poop I picked up in my yard over the last year. Can you think of any cool uses for it, or is it just crap?

Do you have any annoying neighbors? But geez you missed your opportunity on Halloween. There could have been flaming bags of poop on every doorstep. Guess you should have asked sooner!!!!!!!!

(-: You got a really obnoxious neighbor?

No, really, maybe the very best thing to do with it is to throw it out with the garbage. It may harbor dog diseases that could re-infest your dog.

Another possibility is composting it. Mix with leaves or straw and layer with kitchen scraps (no meat or fat is advisable -- just the veggies). I've heard that the temps that come with composting kill most of the bad stuff. If you are still worried, though, you could try burning it, if your local laws allow burning in your yard.

Hint for the future: don't save it. Compost it, or bury it at least once a month. A gallon or so is not so much, but it sounds like you are up to your hips in poop!

Good luck.

Crap is hard to find uses for... What I want to know is what kind of dog you have, and why you're saving it!
My friends have always thought of a wild scheme that is more than a little gross: Put the poo in a paper bag, and set it on a friend's porch. Ring the doorbell, light the bag on fire, and run away. As a spur of the moment thing, the friend will most likely begin to stomp on the fire to put it out, stepping in the poo!
Yes it is a very cruel prank, just make sure you have water nearby to put it out if it gets out of hand, and a forgiving friend!

Dig a hole and dump it in, big earthworms love the stuff.

we have a corner in our yard where we throw the dog crap and it mulches down within about 2 - 3 days, doesn't even smell.

every now and then I'll throw a shovel of dirt or lawn clippings over it.

I have 2 dogs and they poo about 3 times a day, the pile never seems to get bigger than a foot high and Ive been adding to it for about 5 years now.
sounds pretty gross but its simple and works

You could try to compost it... I'm not sure how well that works. If you want to just get rid of it, you can dig a hole (not deeper than the topsoil) and burry it. The bacteria in the ground will decompose the poop.

Sorry = dog poop is useless as fertilizer & it stinks! Why did you save it? Don't you have garbage collections?

Place it in trash bags for the garbage man. It has no use.
