I think its fantastic! But there may be negative consequences. Unless Congress does an amazing job the next 2 years, 2008 is the democrats' election to lose. I also worry that this election indicates a democratic slide to the right. Many winning democrats were conservative or centrist, and the democrats might move to the center to beat the republicans in the future. The good news is that is bad news for conservatives, who might also see a republican shift to the center. already there is talk that Arnold's centrism is the path of the republicans for the future. But it also means that the left will have less of a chance to impact politics. Whether or not this happens we will have to see, but for now its time to celebrate! :)

i'm quite pleased and maybe even hopeful. but watch how the neoCONNED are gonna pretend to expect the Dems to perform miracles. the Repubs will pretend to expect the Dems to clean up 6 years of devastating neoCON mess in two years with a Whitehouse that is poised and ready with a veto pen. GW has vetoed only one bill that has come across his desk, Stem Cell Research. it should prove interesting to see how much use that veto pen gets now. i have little doubt GW will do everything he can to make the Dems appear ineffective despite his recent call for bi partisan co operation.

You know, I'm a Republican and I don't think it's all that bad! The Dems have been whining and bellyaching for 6 years now. Since they now have the power, they have to step up and deliver. It won't take long before we all realize:
a) they do not have a plan.
b) it's tougher to deliver even if you have one!
Since this is a mid-term election, two years of seeing them fail will help us get a repub back in the White House in 2008! Live it up Dems!

Neither party has all the answers.
It's the same cycle repeating itself - once a party has dominated Washington for too long, they get complacent and out of touch with the American people, then the other party gets voted in.
In a few years, we'll be booting the Democrats out and putting Republicans back in.

It's a sad day in America. I'm sure our founding fathers are turning over in their graves as our government moves closer and closer to socialism & communism. The only good thing is that in America the number one goal of all politians, regardless of party, is to get elected. Their number two goal is staying elected. So they will be very busy and have little time for legislation ...at least I am keeping my fingers crossed.

BUT, the Dems have about 15 months to make good, or at least show that they are making a good faith effort and the GOP is dragging their feet and stonewalling, or they are out
