Actually, I have a funny memory that I will never forget. One Thanksgiving, I had to eat at a restaurant with my mum and brother instead of going to a relative's house. On a dare by my brother, I licked the remaining gravy off of the plate. Nobody saw anything, I think, but nobody said anything if they did see me. My brother and mum could not believe what I had done. I was trying to have some fun because the day had been very long for me and I had been running on two hours sleep and was in a giddy mood.

My happiest Thanksgiving memories are ones when I was a little girl and my grandmother was there with all of us, laughing and carrying on a fantastic conversation with the group. Her laughter and smile could light up the whole world. She developed Alzheimer's Disease when I was around 10 and died when I was 15. I always think of her when I look across the table on Thanksgiving and wish I could see that beautiful face again looking back at me.

I love all the memories of Thanksgiving with my family because now that we are adults and have our own families, its sort of mundane and not as fun.
But I remember one Thanksgiving that was hilarious because food is the concentration of this particular holiday for my siblings. We were kids and my two older brothers always looked forward to my mom's sweet potato pie. Well it just so happened that we were all hanging around the kitchen, yapping and mom was taking the pie out of the oven and in a second, it hit the floor. Everyone was stunned. The two older brothers stood there, stunned and one began to cry. "Oh God," he said, "Mom dropped the pie." We all just stood there unable to believe she dropped the pie. My younger brother, who loved food consumption, period, dashed to the pie and started scooping it up with a serving spoon, saying, "God made dirt and dirt don't hurt...I'm eating this pie!"
It was hilarious. I miss that.

Mine was weird. I was in the living room talking to my grandma, when I saw my aunt dragging the turkey past the kitchen doorway. Yes, dragging it. Apparently she pulled the foil pan forward to baste it, and the whole pan fell out of the oven. Fortunately, the turkey didn't fall out, but it was still funny. My mom was pissed because there was grease all over the place, and the foil pan was all bent out of shape so they couldn't just pick it up and put it back in the oven. Hence, the dragging. That was 4 or 5 years ago, and I still ask every year whether or not we're going to have our annual turkey-pull. My mom and my aunt are the only ones who don't find it funny.

My favorite is when my Aunt Dot and Uncle Bob came to visit (they used to visit alot when I was growing up too) my parents house back in the late 80's and I was visiting the p's from NY.
We had several family members there and lots of children, etc.....after dinner we all sat around and told stories and jokes......people were scattered all around the house....but we had such a lovely time sitting at the dining room table and talking about everything......my Uncle Bob made it especially memorable because he was always the life of the party....always smiling and happy. I have 6 sisters and every time he visited he'd make sure he kissed every single one of us girls. He and my aunt have been such wonderful people...we always enjoyed their company.
