Are marriage or hybrid cars really dumb ideas for a speech?

a speech is great when a part of it become a metaphor for something else. Talk about the hybrid cars and their history perhaps, the place it could bring the environment/ country. sprinkle in a joke or two (hybrid cars when they go electric are completely silent, you can drive behind a group of pedestrians and they won't hear you). and wrap up the speech about humans have always been innovative or this age is the age of ingenuity and you look foward to the future or something.

Marriage is too risky... hybrid cars would be good if you tell the WHOLE story. Example: 90% of the dumb-a**ed people out there think hybrids use no fuel when in fact they use plain old gasoline. Most people think they are non-polluters when in fact they do emit pollutants like any other internal combuston engine only not nearly so much as the average car. Speaking of the 'average' car, the emissions are so low on modern vehicles that the air in almost every city in the US has actually gotten CLEANER for the past ten years. If there were ten times the number of hybrids on the road it wouldn't make a dent in lowering our nations fuel consumption or air pollution. No one is denying that hybrids are a major step in the right direction for the whole planet but people shouldn't be so blind to the actual numbers and facts. The fact is a handfull of hybrids are NOT going to change anything for anyone -- not even the people that buy them. Even if they manage to acheive 46 miles per gallon it will NEVER make-up the extra $4,000.00 or so you will spend buying one vs a Toyota Corolla that gets nearly as good gas mileage. I not ranting or being pesimistic, but it's time we all start being realists.

no. hybrid cars are something people don't understand and is here to help our environment. marriage is always a good topic because people get married for the wrong reasons and don't take it seriously. I have a hybrid car e-mail me if you need info.
