I do, because it happens so rarely. On those occasions I've done it to someone else, they usually say 'do I know you?'

People used to call me by name when I worked at Wal-Mart. It didn't really bother me, but I would catch myself wondering if I knew the person, or if they were just reading my name tag.

Name tags are evil, IMO. No one should have to wear them. They're so first grade.

I don't like it when strangers call be by name, even if I'm wearing a name badge. I'd prefer someone to say "miss" or "ma'am". I guess maybe I'm weird though. I also don't like addressing people by their first names (which is what we were required to do at my old job). We knew customers names because of their membership cards, and we were supposed to address them by first name. I find it somewhat rude I guess. But that's just me.

I ask if they know me or do they just read really well.

They admit they just read well.

But I have been at my job 16 years so the whole town knows my name ... by reading my name badge!
