Ms. America or Ms. Universe pageant and winner???

Which pageant had a contestant that was Deaf and won? My daughter needs her name for a school project, and for some reason I can't remember. Anybody know?

Her name is Heather Whitestone. She became Miss America in September 1994 (according to her website, I thought it was 1995! oops!) I have included the link to her website, maybe that will help your daughter with her project.
