It's a shame when someone who so evidently know nothing about the Craft, seems to need to criticise it.
Yes you are right, there are folks who "move behind the scenes" as there are in all countries and governments. In the UK it is Whitehall, the government may change but the institution reamins the same.
It is not so much that the asker "needs a life" but needs to learn a little more about freemasonry - rather than display an ignorance of the subject..
He IS right that most leaders are figureheads however. BUT the officials in the party and in Whitehall (in the UK, different places have different names) are the "string pullers" - they have a moderating influence to try and make sure that a new leader cannot decided to make such vast, rapid and sweeping changes that IF he is wrong, it can seriously damage the whole Country.

In some cases I agree. The little township I vote in for the second year in a row, the machines went down and a repairman was in the room alone for a time. I truly think this is a fix.
