R.E.M. sings "It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" --> lyrics at http://www.musicfactory2.co.uk/Lyrics/Rem/Endoftheworld.html

Originally, Harry Nilsson sung the song "Coconut" but the Baha Men as well as Toxic Audio and probably a lot of others have recorded similar versions entitled "Put The Lime In The Coconut"
(iTunes as well as http://www.harrynilsson.com/page-put-the-lime-in-the-coconut.html)

R.E.M originally sang "It's the End of the World as We Know It". I also know of a version by Great Big Sea.
Harry Nillson originally sang "Put the Lime in the Coconut". The Muppets also did a really funny version a while (long while) ago.

The lead singer of REM sings it, the band REM plays it. This is not pop, they do play instruments, and the vocals are only a small part of the whole song.

REM sings the first one, and the original singer of the second was Harry Nilsson.
