I'd say yes,when now artists have access to cd burners on computers, they can get their creative product out onto the market (or online) much easier than having to go the whole search for an agent/label/recording deal...

Oh heck yes...there are so many small indie record groups and kids producing cds of their bands songs in their basements and distrubuting their albums themselves noawadays.
