I believe only spouses can claim benefits. She would have ceased to be a qualified dependant once she reached a certain age (which is now 23 if you're in school, I'm not sure what it would have been back then) or when she got married.

My dad is retired military and I lost all claim to military benefits when I turned 23. My sister will lose them when she gets married at 21.

But, when in doubt, have her call the local Veteran's Affairs in her area.

nicely first as a veteran i'm not confident in case you get the image. The GI bill for preparation, I had to pay into it wasn't loose. next the VA medical must be loose for service proper injuries. My father lost both knee caps in Vietnam so that they ought to look after him. As a veteran it really is not service proper I even ought to pay each and each and every time i exploit the VA device. so that you'll favor to envision your information formerly making a press release. also Civil warfare Vets received a pension and so did their widows. My tremendous grandfather received a pension for his service in a Northern regiment out of Illinois.

Probably not, but can't hurt to ask the VA. Tell her to contact the State Department of Veteran Affairs. I pasted a link for Florida below.

In all likelyhood, there is probably a statute of limitations (time frame for submittiing a claim) on money from a pension that may be owed to her. If there is no limitation clause, then she might check a government unclaimed money website.
