why do Bert and Ernie wear the same sweaters they did in the 1970's?

and if Bert gets so annoyed by Ernie why does he sleep in the same room?

Bert and Ernie are PUPPETS, I know, its come as a great shock to you, it did to me when I found out (when I was 12), so unfortunately they have no say in what they wear and the reason why they sleep in the same bed is, they are gay.

because they are crack heads and spend all their money on junk. They don't even take showers and are probably gay or at least bi. Remember when Ernie would pop off Bert's nose? I think the nose is some form of sex toy for them. They are sick!

They want to wear the same sweaters because they want to keep the characters original. They sleep in the same room because even though he gets annoyed they still are the bestest of friends, I would know my teacher has a friend who works at the studio she is in charge of making the cookies for the cookie monster to eat.

The puppet Odd Couple, best of friends and totally irritating to one another. To change them in anyway would traumatize generations who grew up knowing that despite your roommates ecentric behavior, out-dated style, singing "rubber ducky", you could still be best of friends.

Or simply the sweaters are sew/integrated into their bodies requireing a full remake to change.
