I seriously do this all the time. My sister in law hates to go shopping with me because she says I'm so embarrassing. Anyway, I just smile and sing and dance....most of the time, I get smiles back. If someone glares, just say "isn't this a great song". Just be super happy and perky. Who can't smile back at that??
Keep singin'

Just keep smiling keep shining! Once I heard a noise like a sax or a clarinet, like what they play when someone is just coming on stage, an introduction, I turned to see where the sound came from {I was in the grocery store} and here's this old man with a sports car type jaunty cap on, pushing his cart and looking at the food and all the while he's making this happy sound out the side of his mouth! I stopped and told him he sounded like a real trumpet, that it was so good to see someone who did not let the world rain on his parade. Cause his joy affected me and others in a contagious appreciation! [Turned out, he used to be a musician in band.]

Keep on singing, darling. Perhaps someone will take your queue in the future, and do the same. If you can find a perfect stranger, doing the same, I promise you it'll be most wonderful. Strangers singing...in a store? To me, there are few things superior.

Good voice or not, there are appropriate places to sing. I don't think a retail store is the place. I'm speak only for myself, of course. I happen to enjoy karaoke. But in the store I am concentrating on my family's needs. Listening to someone singing in a store is about as obnoxious as having to listen to someone else's cell phone conversation.
