Hello, I have never taken an Airplane before but next month I will be flying from USA to Philippines. One of my stops is in Narita Airport and after researching about it on the internet I found out that I will need to transfer from terminal 1 to terminal 2. Has anybody actually been in Narita?? Any information or links to webpages about this topic would be helpful.

I Know this airport is huge and I have less than two hours to tranfer from one terminal to the other.

I also would like to know if English (or Spanish) is spoken there and if the signs are translated.

Thank you for your answers.

♡Here's a diagram that shows you the two connecting Narita terminals, in English. Does this help?

It's really not that complicated. There is a handy Terminal Connection Bus and Terminal Connection Bus stops to get you there too. (Bottom of page.) They have many English signs and the kind people at the Information desk can help you out!♡

English is posted everywhere at Narita. The airline counter and gate staff can have good fluent English skills. Everywhere else English may be understood, but not perfect. There are shuttle busses that depart every 5-10 minutes between terminal 1 and 2.

Are you sure you have to transfer from term 1 to term 2? Sometimes for transit, especially on the same airline, transit passengers do not actually enter the country, they just get off the aircraft and then go to the next boarding gate. The reason I ask, is sometimes it can take up to one hour to clear immigration, customs and baggage claim. If your bags are going to be automatically forwarded, then you probably can clear customs and immigration in about 30 minutes. The wait time depends on how many immigration officials are on duty and the amount of incoming people there are. 2 hours may not be enough time.

Yes,
1. After landing, you will see directions where to lead you to International Connecting Flights.

2. You will reach a place where you will board a bus that will lead you to Terminal 1 or 2 and airport staff will give you a free bus ticket and they will tell you where to get off because they will ask your flight info.

3. You will see a small counter where airlines staffs will give you a boarding pass for your next flight. You don't need to go to the Main to fall on a very long line..it is smooth and easy.

There are English and Japanese as well as other languages written for directions.. Airport staffs are well trained and most speaks English. It won't take you half an hour to reach the gate and have your boarding pass ready because you have already avoided the long hours of waiting on line at the Main.
. Happy trip !
good day!

Narita has a subway/monorail line that shuttles people between the two terminals. It costs less than $5. 2 hours is plenty of time, but don't dawdle until after you've reached terminal 2.

Try to follow the signs, which are in English. Don't be afraid to ask for directions. Start talking to an attendant until they call over another attendant who speaks English, or you can ask:

"Taah-meh-nah-roo knee wa, doh-koh dehs kah?"
(ta-menaru ni wa, doko desu ka?)
Where is terminal 2?

If the person gives you verbal directions you don't understand, say,
"Wah-kah-ree-mahs-en."
(Wakarimasen)
I don't understand.

They should then lead you to your location. If they again answer incomprehensibly, repeat,
"Doh-koh? Mee-seh-tay koo-dah-sigh."
(Doko? Misete kudasai.)
Where? Please show me.

Don't worry. It's a very common question, so if you just ask "Terminal 2?" in English and look bewildered, they'll make sure you get to the right place.

The signs are in English as well as Japanese. You won't have to worry about customs, baggage, etc. Just exit the plane and follow the crowd (and signs) to your next gate. You'll have plenty of time. As your plane lands, there should be an announcement re connecting flights.
Don't worry, it'll be easy. The flights are scheduled to give you plenty of time to make it to your next gate.

Try to get a map of the airport. For sure, English is widely spoken.
