yep! i also had a baby in nicu for 60 days and pumped. truthfully, most peoples boobs dont make exact same amounts of milk. i always had one that was better producer and of course, all my children always preffered that side to drink. How long is the expected NICU stay? its normal to start losing supply sometimes around 4-5 weeks into the pumping (stress!).. I needed a script for reglan to help me out...

Very normal. I expierenced the same thing with my first child. If I pumped both breasts at the same time, I typically got more out of the less producing breast than pumping that single breast alone. Another major role in keeping your milk supply up is to drink lots of water. I drank more water nursing the second time round and was pleased with my output. There was one time, the baby got sick and wasn't sucking normally. My milk started to depreciate and a friend told me about an herbal tea called Mothers Milk. I picked it up at a health food store and was impressed with results. After 2 days of drinking the tea just once a day, I was back to normal. Just food for thought. Take care and enjoy that new angel!

Yes, it is normal. But the lower supply on one side may be due to a slower flow from one of your breasts. I produce slightly less on one side when I pump for this reason, and it takes longer to fill a bottle. But sure enough, it fills one every time. You may want to start pumping for five extra minutes on your slow side to even things out. But you don't have to, really. It's not a real problem, just maybe a cosmetic one if you get lopsided. Kellymom (the best breastfeeding resource on the web) has some information on "lopsidedness" on this website: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mom/lopsided.html

i have one breast that makes more than the other! Funny how our bodies are made, isn't it? My little ones could tell a difference too, when they were little, they didn't want that side because it came out too fast and when they got bigger they did want that side because they got full quicker. Breastmilk is the best thing you can do for that little one! Good job going to the extra effort Mama!

perfectly normal....even when the baby nurses you maynotice one side prduces more than the other. If it is a large difference, try pumping more on the weak side, that will help to bring it up
