Well pi is supposedly 22/7 and is an infinite number that never repeats. Often in some situations, you may be asked to use 3.14 instead.
The square root of 2 is 1.4121356... it's a really long number, perhaps another infinite and those are the first few numbers.

WELL... if you had the cool Advanced D.A.L EL-531V Sharp calculator... you wouldn't be offering the 12 points for the square root of 2 would yah?

Pi is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. It's approximated as 3.14159. Please see the URL below for the story of how pi is computed.
The square root of 2 is approximately 1.41421; most calculators (and the calculator built into Windows) have a square root function on them. (That's how I got the number for this answer...go to Accessories and find the Calculator program).

The mathematical constant π is an irrational real number, approximately equal to 3.14159, which is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter in Euclidean geometry, and has many uses in mathematics, physics, and engineering. It is also known as Archimedes' constant (not to be confused with an Archimedes number) and as Ludolph's number. The numerical value of π truncated to 50 decimal places is:
3.14159 26535 89793 23846 26433 83279 50288 41971 69399 37510
The square root of 2 is 1.4142135

Pi is what you use to calculate to area of a circle eg Pi/Radius squared. Pi = 3.14 , but it is neverending.

circumference of a circle divided by the denominator
pi=3.1415926535897932384626433832795........
sqrt(2)=1.4142135623730950488016887242097.....
both are irrational which means tat there is never a recurring patern like 1/7=0.14285714285714285714285714285714
you see here that 142857 repeats.
