yes. it's best to check the box when you first buy the makeup to check its shelf life or expiry date. most cosmetics discolor, change texture and start smelling bad after three months. smelly makeup is enough reason to dump them. eyemakeup doesn't expire as quickly as face powders and lip stuff though. a helpful tip, buy small portions so you are not throwing out a lot.by the time 3 mos has come the product is finished.also, if the product is not functioning as it should even though there is enough product to be used, dump it...

If you got lots of money, yes throw it out. I use my eye make up until it is finished. And if I find some that I haven't used in a year I still use it. Mascara is a different thing because it's close to your eyes and anyway it gets clumpy and thick after three months.

Mascara is three months and if you are given to eye infections, more often. Eyeshadow and liner can last longer, depending on if its powder, liquid or pencil. Pencils last the longest, powder can last if you use disposable applicators and do not touch the powder with an applicator that has touched the oils from your skin. Its that oil and moisture, which transfers from the applicator that begins to break down the powder.

No. People get eye infections from new make up just as much as they do from old stuff.
There are germs everywhere and just because something is old doesn't mean it has more. That's what they never tell you. They show you all the germs in your make up on the Tyra Banks show but they don't show you what's in new or week old make up...they don't because it's just as bad.
