I am doing some research for a class and I will use feedback here in the project! I got my information from the US Department of Justice website. My article is going to be about misconceptions about offenders! 90% of people that offend sexually know their victims very well and only 3.5% of sex offenders reoffend. It's more than likely going to be someone you know and in your own home.

Absolutely NOT! The vast majority of ALL sex offenders, including child molesters, commit the offense against someone they know well or against a family member.

I have read and heard that MOST children will be molested by a relative, be it an Uncle, Aunt, Cousin, etc., rather than a stranger.
Also by a neighbor, through "baby-sitting" for their friends. As to re-offenders, I have no idea. In California, we just passed a law that requires any sex offender to wear a GPS monitering system when released from prison, they cannot live with-in 2000 feet of a school, and they will serve longer terms, with no early release. I don't care if it is a relative or a kook, anyone molesting my Grandchildren, and if I don't get to them first, should spend the rest of their lives in prison.

There you go with the sexual offenders again... if you are talking about adult on child.. they are considered usually sexual predators.. if you are talking about young man with younger girl.. then it is usually considered a sex offender and those sex offenders usually do not re offend
But yes most children that are molested are molested by someone they know

I'm not sure where you got those "statistics" but their is no way...on the face of this GOD given earth....can u tell me that ONLY 3.5% re-offend...I think it's more like 83.5% re-offend!! You need to redo your research!! It's a sickness not a habit!!
Before you go writing any "research" paper for your class.....I'd do your homework! And if your "stats" are true....I want the link!

There was this show recently on dr phil, where a father was molesting his 3 yr old baby gal...that show upset me so much....how can a father do that to his baby gal??
