I am doing some research for a class and I will use feedback here in the project! I got my information from the US Department of Justice website. My article is going to be about misconceptions about offenders! Treatment programs can contribute to community safety because those who attend and cooperate with program conditions are less likely to re-offend than those who reject intervention.

Keep in mind.. sexual offenders are different than sexual predators
- offenders are not always likely to be repeat offenders... where as sexual predators are... a sex offender could be an 18 year old senior having sex with a 16 year old junior in high school....
-Predators are the ones that prey on underage children, women, etc...

Sex offenders are the most likely criminals to repeat.. too much temptation. I don't have an academic source, but my mother was a prosecuter for ten years, and dealt with rapists several times. Thearpy may help, but ultimately, their violent nature is not something that changes with time. Try to chemically castrate them and they find other ways to act out their need for power and domination. Treating rapists is lost cause as far as i am concerned.. however i don't think that they should be locked away forever. As disgusting as it is, sexual preditors have rights to.

Yes, it has been proven ineffective. They are addicted, just like alcohol. An alcoholic is not to have another drink for the rest of their life, so as not to become out of control again.

But do they keep sex offenders and molesters locked up? No, they can be rehabilitated. Makes no sense.

you must consider that the descriptions of a sex offender are very much like the descriptions of sinners during the inquisition. i.e. how can you heal someone of a misdiagnosed illness?

I believe they, like alcoholics, can reform IF THEY ARE COMMITTED TO THE PROGRAM themselves.

Trying to force them to change doesn't work.

Rapists should be executed.
