I am doing some research for a class and I will use feedback here in the project! I got my information from the US Department of Justice website. My article is going to be about misconceptions about offenders! Adolescents are responsible for a significant number of rape and child molestation cases each year (about 50%).

Yes they do. I know someone that works in a treatment center for youth Sex Offenders. The Treatment Center is just that "treatment". To see why they did what they did, how they were feeling, what they were thinking at the time that triggered it. I guess to better understand the Adult Sex Offender. Most Sex Offenders were victims or they were predators at a young age. Most were done to family members. I think the youngest one was 7 yrs old, but not sure.

I'd bet money they were molested first.

They say molesters grow up to molest, and that a majority of molestations are by a family member. So I could see a 15 yr old cousin molesting a 9 yr cousin (or sister, etc)

Yes, unfortunately. My daughter was raped by a 17 yr old boy. And yes, many have been molested themselves, however, the majority of people who have been molested or abused don't turn around and molest others. It does happen, but it's not the majority.

Well, yeah, obviously. The only reason why you don't hear about it as much is because it's not much of a story without names because that is being withheld by law. That's the media for you. Also, a good chunk of sexual offenses are NOT reported out of the victim's fear of reprisal.

Uhh....do you have a question? Seems like this would be more effective if you withheld the fact that adolescents do indeed commit tons of sex offenses, but you seem to proud of yourself for doing a project and you just have to tell everyone.

Obviously.

Many teens molest children. Even children molest babies. (However, that is a little different, since they don't know any better)

A teen knows what they are doing and they are responsible enough to be punished for this crime.
