I want to name my daughter a really unique name that nobody has but everyone that I talk to, and the people here at Answers have made fun of the names and told me NO WAY. So like, why can famous people name thier kids Apple, Moon Unit, Pilot Inspektor and Audio Science? But it's not OK for me to name my daughter something like OC (Cause i like the tv show The Oc)

Not a good idea. I had a friend who is now deceased, his first name was Dicky. He was constantly ask what his real name was, so he finally decided to change it to Richard. His parents never found out, because he was still called Dicky by his friends, but when someone would asked about his real name he could answer Richard.
Life is difficult enough, so give your child the chance of a happy and healthy life, and give her a normal first name.

Well I see the differences as: 1) They have a ton of money and really, who cares if they get teased through life. Their mom is totally like Gwyneth Paltrow ok. 2) If you're just an average person and name your kid that, she is so going to get the crap beaten out of her at school. 3) Who knows, that show will be canceled in two years and by the time she's in school, nobody will know the reference. 4) It's just gay, ok. Don't do it!
I guess I'll name my next child Desperate Housewives, because I can't get enough of that show.....how about the rest of you guys? Just for fun, what are you going to name your next child? LMAO!!!

It's not ok for famous people either. They simply are so rich and famous they don't care about how ridiculous they look. Giving your kid a name like Audio Science or OC is self-indulgent and will make your child suffer needlessly trying to deal with it for the rest of their lives. If you want your child to be unique, teach them to be unique individuals. Don't saddle them with YOUR idea of a cool name.

Think about it, your sweet little baby will have this stupid name so she/he can get teased and picked on and probably get into fights over it. Just because you love the name Oc doesn`t mean he/she will love it. Pick a normal name so the kid can have a normal life. I had a weird name and I still hate it to this day, and use my middle name. Hopefully you will give the baby a nice middle name.

Well we do make fun of these celebrity baby names and after hearing some them I wish there were some laws in place that said, you can't name your kid certain names. Go for it, I knew a girl in grade school named Demple, and her last name didn't help.

Cuz they have millions of dollars to pay the shrinks & their kids will have booze/drug/eating disorders by the time they are 11 anyway. You should not be asking this, what you should be asking is if you are so into yourself & want to name your kid after a tv show (causing the child a lifetime of grief) are you mature enough to have children?

I think it's silly for all of those people. Imagine living through life named "Apple".
Name your kid whatever you want, but do you really think that in a decade she's going to appreciate being named after a moderately successful soap opera?

Because you likely cannot afford to shield your daughter from reality until she is well into her adult life. Kids of celebrities are often disconnected from reality as their parents have so much money they can pretty much lead a pampered existence.

Please name your daughter a beautiful name. Because she will have to go through her whole life with that name. Make it a beautiful name.
