Swaddle him. Get the SwaddleMe blanket by Kippopotamus. It's the best. Works like a charm and you don't have to fool around with making a normal blanket stay in place. Honestly, it not only made my son sleep through the night, but by sleeping through the night he developed good sleep habits.

At 7 weeks prob the most you can ask for is for yours to sleep midnight to 7am, b/c his little stomach will get hungry. Read "Baby Wise" and put him on a 3 hr feeding schedule during the day...

Most babies at 7 weeks do not sleep more than two or three hours at a time, and even if he was sleeping longer than that your doctor would want you to wake him to feed him at three to four hour intervals, because their kidneys are small and you want him to eat frequently to flush his system, ecspecially if he had any kind of jaundice. The key to surviving this time is two sleep when he sleeps, even during the day if you can, that way you will be rested and well when you need to care for him at night. If you are nursing and the night time feeding is getting to you consider pumping and asking your husband to take one shift that would atleast give you six uninterrupted hours. Find comfort in his frequent waking, so that you know he is safe in the night. I enjoyed the quiet time with my babies where the rest of the world slept and we just snuggled and bonded. Those times goes all too quickly. Enjoy it.

I have 3 children and 12 weeks old was the magic week for them. On the first born I was so used to being up all hours of the night that the first time he slept through the night....I woke up and the sun was shining in the windows and I thought , "oh, my god, I have slept all night." I jumped out of bed thinking the baby had died, after all he could not have possibly slept all night. Ran to his crib and he was still sleeping peacefully. From that night on he slept all night.
Hang in there, you will soon get to sleep a full night.

We bought our son one of those wool sheepskin blankets and put it under him when we put him down to sleep. It is such a soft and comfortable thing that he started sleeping through the night at 8 weeks. He used that until he was almost two dragging it around and laying on it when he'd go to sleep. It was one of the best purchases we ever made. I have heard parents say they also help colicky babies.

Here's a website that sells them. They are a bit pricey but worth every penny. We still have it in the house and it's 19 years old now and looks like new. You can even wash them.

And hey- NEVER feed a 7 week old baby cereal. Their tiny digestive systems are only good with mom's breast milk or formula like soy based product.

If he's completed after 8 minutes, he can no longer eat longer or sleep longer no count what loopy property you do to the undesirable toddler. he will sleep longer while he's somewhat older and in a position to bypass longer between feedings. 2 hours is particularly common for a 7 week previous. actual, i think of you choose a sparkling wellness care professional - individual who relatively is familiar with something approximately breastfeeding and breastfed infants. My suggestion could be to quit scuffling with with him. If he nurses for 8 minutes and is going to sleep, then take great thing approximately regardless of time you get and you bypass to sleep additionally. do no longer stay conscious attempting to maintain him conscious. in case you will get 4 2-hour bits of sleep, you may experience particularly rested and in a position to function (I relatively have 3 youngsters - i've got long previous months on 2-hours-at-a-time sleep, and that i won't be in a position to even remember while the final time I slept 8 hours on the instant replaced into, in all probability a minimum of three years in the past...). remember that this is largely a factor. Your toddler remains little and nevertheless needs to eat generally. in basically some months (or possibly even weeks, yet i won't be in a position to promise that) he would be snoozing longer stretches. opposite to what your wellness care professional is telling you, you won't be in a position to get somewhat one to sleep longer via making him eat longer, while he's already taking an entire feeding. scuffling with it relatively is basically making issues harder for the two one in all you. settle for that this is how this is for now, do no longer combat it, study to stay with it, and you will locate it relatively is not possibly all that undesirable and could be over until eventually now you realize it.

dont run straight into him. leave him to cry for 5 minutes then go in give him pat on the back or a little cuddle and then put him back down and let him cry. try to give him alittle more to eat b4 you put him down and check his nappy is clean. everytime extend it from 5 minutes then go to 10 minutes. dont go over 15 minutes as then they can make more out of it and get stressed. if did that with my month and a half and i now get some night 7hrs which i think is great. it is very hard to let them cry and not go in.
if you cant do that then try sitting in the room with him but dont pick him up. good luck and dont give in otherwise it can get wrose.

Bath him first in a nice warm bath with one tiny drop of lavender oil in the bath then feed him real well when he all woke up after bath about 11.00Pm.
He will sleep longer because he ate well is clean and his tummy's full .Swaddling also help, they don't knock them self in the face when there sleeping and wake themselves up. plus it feels like moms womb. also a clock that ticks near his bed will sound like your heart beat which will comfort him.

Also does he cry all the time he may have colic you may want to microwave a old cloth diaper in a clean microwave barley warm to touch then swaddle diaper on his tummy and then swaddle blanket .
Also you can take his temp rectally barley putting the tip in with alot of Ky-gel and rotate barely they poop Wala no more colic.

He needs to wake up every two to three hours to eat. If he you get him to sleep longer using any sort of method you'll be depriving him of the nutrients he needs. You signed up for the job when you got pregnant. Eventually it will even out. Let him go at his own pace. Others who are irresponsible lazy parents will tell you to add cereal or rice to his bottle but this will cause him to become constipated becuase his bowels aren't mature enough to digest any sorts of solids.

GEEZ, what did you think being a parent is about anyway!? He is hungry and needs to be fed every 2-3 hours, probably for at least the next few months. Babies need a parent who is willing to do that. You will be absolutely exhausted for those months. Just work it into the equation, get some outside help if you need to in order to keep your sanity, but know that that child needs someone to feed him and change him and love him even when he is screaming with colic. At least you don't have that dreadful problem, thank your lucky stars. Just get up and feed him and go back to bed.
