"CUT AND RUN" is a lot better than "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" (those were the words of bush in 2003 on a navy ship) has anything been accomplished in iraq so far?

So true for your last sentence.
Cut and Run is out for the time being. We are too entrenched at the moment to withdraw completely.
I don't know exactly how all of the latest developments are tied together, but I am beginning to see that the Rumsfeld resignation, Saddam's death sentence, and the Iraqi leadership in place now, begging that we stay indefinitely are closely related.
I have a feeling this goes much deeper than what now meets the eye. The last time I saw resignations of this magnitude, we discovered the Watergate scandal. I was too young too understand all this back then. Nixon was removed from power. Much of his staff either resigned, or was removed.
What we are facing now, may be on this scale.

Bush went out campaigning on the canard that if people didn't vote Republican, their national security was at stake. "Stay the course!" as if Iraq ever had anything to do with our national security. Thousands of lives have been lost and billions of dollars have been spent on this debacle. Only World War I rivals it in madness and mindlessness. The only thing the Democrats will do is try to go forward from here, the best they can, cleaning up this mess. They have a Gordion Knot to untie and it's all the fault of the lies, trickery, manipulation and arrogance of the Bush Administration.

The democrats aren't going to make any major changes that will cause them to lose 2 years from now the power they just gained. A sudden pullout from Iraq with the resultant caos or a sudden raise in taxes to pay for more spending could result in a backlash in the 2008 election. There are several senators and representatives who face reelection in 2 years and a presidential election which they hope to win also. If they upset the voters enough, with major changes that reduce our security or bring about major economic damage they know the next election could lose them their current advantage. I don't see much of anything in major changes occurring in the next 2 years.

Republicans communicate approximately democrats being in l. a. l. a. Land and failing to make certain the certainty, being naive, no longer waiting to understand certainty. which may be genuine in some cases, yet no longer love this is interior the republican celebration. you may tell and teach with info, that republican presidents traditionally spend greater suitable than democrats. it relatively is not proper one iota to republican ideals. this is a certainty republicans improve the federal government, the comparable one they tell their base the democrats will strengthen if elected. The GOP throws that comparable previous tax decrease bone out to the backside each and every election and then proceeds to blow up the national debt. Republicans continually demonize democrats as tax and spenders on an analogous time as they themselves are borrow and spenders. This bailout, the residing house republicans does no longer bypass the unique crap sandwich as Rep. Boehner known because it, yet as quickly as loaded with beef and tax breaks for company usa, the crap sandwich grew to grow to be a lot greater palatable and the so called economic conservatives interior the residing house gave it their blessing. I basically don't understand/understand how election after election the GOP get maximum of persons to vote against their own maximum suitable hobbies even with the info slapping them interior the face that they never do what they say, and worse they do basically what they demonize democrats approximately. Six years republicans held all of government, which of their warm button themes did they placed to relax on an analogous time as on top of issues? Even socializing company usa's losses won't shake their ideals, it relatively is outstanding.

I agree. Things need to change. I think the bottom line is people need to stop pointing blame and "picking sides". Republican or not, the current administration made horrible decisions. In my opinion, they were quick to punch, and slow to think. Like the drunk idiot at the bar who takes on 6 guys cause he's drunk and looking for a fight, only to get his butt kicked.
America is a scientific and intellectual leader in the world....these past years however...we have returned to a very dark time. Our country is suppressing rights, trying to spit a small majority of the populations beliefs all over the world....and is quick to fight before thinking things out or using our brains.
We need to lead by action not by words. Without respect no one will listen....and the world is deaf to us right now. Whatever party or candidate does it....putting us back on the right course of being a country that helps shape the world in a peaceful way will go down in history as good people. I think this current gov will go down very similar to the Nixon era. I hope the democrats will have nicer things written about them in history books.

Not a dead end, but a change in course would be nice. A strong Democratic country in the Middle East could very well change the face of the entire region and both sides know that so I wouldn't expect to drastic a change.. I guarantee the troops will not be home one minute before that task is done, regardless of who is in office.

Cut and run from what.... a winning situation? We can stay the course and run the ship into a lighthouse. Now there's an intelligent decision.
