Yes. We vote them in remember? We choose our leaders so we would all be hypocrites if we didn't trust them right?

We need a more transparent government. Less secrecy. Less lies. Let a little sunshine in, so people know what's going on. This administration has done more to keep the American people from being able to see what its government is doing since Nixon. Maybe if the government wasn't keeping so many secrets, people would actually believe what they're saying.

If we don't know what our government is doing, how can we trust them? Democrats or Republicans. If our publicly elected officials can't be held accountable for the things they do because we don't know what they're doing, then we're not really a government of the people.

And with the last 6 years of neo-conservative warmongering from the White House, and a congress that's basically sat back and done Bush's bidding, there's been no oversight and no checks and balances for this War on Terrorism, Iraq, the attack on our civil liberties. And the media, which often acts as the fourth branch of government when it's doing its job, has laid back as well, spouting off cute sound bites here and there without much real reporting.

Do I trust the government right now? No. Not with this administration. And not with this congress. But I do have faith in it and what our government is capable of doing. We've made mistakes in the past, but we've always overcome them and moved forward.

How can someone trust a government which can not tell the population it is in control of the truth. Thomas Jefferson said man cannot be trusted to govern himself, how then can he be trusted to govern others.

Never....Itz the only nation even in the millennium trying to interfere with other governments not because of their real democracy concern but to capitalize their own benefits. For eg. US government never did what they initially promised before they invade Iraq and situation has become worst then the time of SADAM but we can clearly see that their obvious goal is OIL and they succeeded with increasing the oil price which was only 26 US $ before the Bush Administration but it has tripled to reach the peak all time high of 80 US $. In reality, its not only Middle East & Muslims suffer due to this war, it also affects developing countries.

Even September 11 waz only a cover-up to invade the middle east coz if there is no September 11 then they have no valid reason to go ahead with their pre-planed assault on Iraq & Afghanistan. It seems to me that Bush & Bin Laden is good friends to succeed their plan infact itz bin laden’s father who has invested for the business of bush. However I am really pleased with the outcome of election results & it seems to me that American People started to realize what is going on the field and ofcoz those power corrupts has a day of reckoning

Its our JOB to question our government. If you grow complacent, you're screwing up. We are the government, right? Theres no reason for us to sit back and assume that they are doing their jobs the way they should, or that they have the interests of the American public at heart when they make world-altering decisions. I think we've seen, in the past 5 years or so, exactly where that sort of pacifism gets us. I hope we've all learned a lesson...but I doubt it!

Whom in the Government, and trust them with what?

Never! The U.S. government has shown itself to be far too untrustworthy over the years. We were deceived about spy planes flying over the U.S.S.R. until one was shot down; we were deceived about the effects of Agent Orange on our troops in Vietnam; we were lied to about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq; we were never told about 'secret' CIA prisons where political prisoners were probably tortured.
Benjamin Franklin once said: "When government fears the people, it is liberty. When people fear the government, it is tyranny."
Thomas Jefferson once said: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
Those who trust the government end up becoming victims. Ask any of the 6,000,000 Jews who believed Hitler was simply 'detaining' them for their own safety. -RKO-

For the most part yes. I believe in checks and balances. It is important to have two sides of the isle.

For some reason though I have ALWAYS hated the democratic party.

No. If you have the information in the attached videos and documents and then watch as the legislature allows bills to be put into place that make it harder for an individual to declare bankruptcy while asking the Banks to increase minimum payments and giving the IRS more leeway in collecting back taxes, you can see exactly why the Feds should not be trusted.
