Many of us did have our eyes wide open all along. The longer it goes on the more that do wake up, and see what grave mistakes have been made. Finally, enough people decided they wanted a new direction, and voted for change. I'm just sorry it took six years for that to happen.
There is something much deeper going on than what now meets the eyes. The Iraqi leadership in place at the moment, Saddam's death sentence, and Rumsfeld's resignation, are all closely related. I don't know yet how it's all tied together. We will see how it comes out in the coming months.

oobily...What I mean by much deeper going on, is I have a feeling that something on the scale of Watergate is happening. Early and mid-seventies. Nixon resigned to avoid being impeached. Much of his staff was removed or resigned as well. I was too young at the time to know what it involved. Henry Kissinger was part of the Nixon team. The Bush Administration has been having private talks with Kissinger in the last few weeks. I wonder why. Damage control possibly. Advice on how to handle the fallout, which we have yet to see. Some of the same countries were involved back then that we are up against right now. I could be wrong, but it seems strangely similar.

You are clearly referring to the situation in Iraq -
The most obvious answer is that the realities of the suffering in the Middle East are not apparent to us here in America.
We do not know the reality of what our war has done because the media does not give us an accurate picture of it.
I can say this with authority because I have just returned from three years of volunteering in the West Bank of the Palestinian territories, which have been occupied by Israe since 1967. The Palestinian people suffer from a lack of human rights and violations of international law at the hands of US's strongest ally, Israel - and all of this is underwritten by our own government.
Do we hear anything about this?
You bet we don't.
All we hear is that they are terrorists and we need to "defend" ourselves and Israel - never mind the reality of the consequences of our actions - or the reality of the deaths and suffering that are occurring.

A lot of Americans had their eyes open, the gov't wasn't listening. Even some die-hard republicans were disgusted with the war.

Can you clarify the number of 600,000? And please, not only explain what it relates to, but I would like you to directly (with proof) connect these deaths to Bush..
I anxiously await your response........
