That would depend entirely on the position of the ball in relation to the positon of the other players.
Is this a football question or were you aiming at something else here?

It would depend how the ball was fumbled & how close members of the opposite team were. If I had enough time or the ball bounced back up I'd probably take it & run, but if opponents were coming at me quickly & the ball was sitting on the ground, I'd probably fall on it to prevent them from picking it up & running the other way. Other factors such as whether my team was ahead or behind, how much time was left in the game, what field position I was in, etc. could also play a part in my decision.

I don't know! I would run, why fall, if it's legal to keep possession of the ball after a fumble and the other team hasn't dog piled you, RUN BABY!!!!! RUN!!!

Run to see if ya can get the first down...otherwise protect it from a touchdown by the opponent.

you pick it up and run. more impotrently get the ball. if you can go for the defensive touchdown.
