haha, yeah, i have zombie dreams too and they're scary.
so, i'm not a psychologist, or a dream analyst or anything, but i've spent more time than it's worth thinking about why it is that zombies are so scary. and i've come up with several important elements that zombies can represent.
firstly, they're dead. they're corrupted, rusty and rotten and maggoty, and they move towards you and try to take you in. this is viscerally very upsetting. we spend our lives in complete denial about death and decay, and so having to face it in such an up-front and non-negotiable way is very frightening. around autumn i always get the heeby jeebies about zombies... i think it's all the dead leaves and bare trees.
secondly, there's how they mob you. mobs are terrifying, even ones made up of living people, and the confrontation of their powerful and violent collectivity with your powerlessness and individuality gives feelings of overwhelming hopelessness and loneliness and despair.
Thirdly, there's how they attack you. zombies are slow moving, but they always seem to get you, don't they. they always come out of the shadows, or from behind you, or from your blind spot. the reason that this is so terrifying in your dreams is that we, as visual animals, KNOW subconsciously that our weakness is that what we can see ISN'T always what's out there. So if your brain is concocting a zombie nightmare, the zombies will always get you from the shadows, or from behind you... because that's the kind of attack that we are most vulnerable to.
there is additionally, the sense of betrayal which is implicit in zombies. people we love and know and trust will "change sides" and will betray us and attack and bite and kill us, without even acknowledging even briefly the world you once shared with them, or even recognizing you! the death of relationships, and refusal to recognize that it even existed is a VERY powerful fear. Think about how betrayed lovers speak. they ask questions like "did you EVER love me? didn't our time together mean ANYTHING?" when you're attacked by the zombies of people you know, you ask the same thing. scary.
Finally, there's an oppressive tension in a world full of zombies. there's no home, nowhere safe, nowhere to rest and dream peacefully. No other monster movies really capture this tension as well as zombie movies do...
so yeah, spreading corruption, fear of an overwhelming and oppressive mob, attacking us in ways in which terrify us the most, and the death of love, and the atmosphere of tension. zombies can be scary for a lot of reasons. also, biting is kind of scary.
if you're having lots and lots of zombie dreams, it could mean a bunch of different things. you might be worried or anxious about something in real life which shares a common element with the zombie dream. or it could be something else. I got a lot of zombie dreams when i was on this one antibiotic once, and i also discovered that i have zombie dreams when i sleep near a heater and my mattress is too hot. so it might be chemical or environment causing nightmares, and the nightmares might just be zombie nightmares because they scare the crap out of you and that's what nightmares do.
so before you go psychoanalyzing yourself, look around and see if there's an external element causing your nightmares. good luck.
(oh hey, as i was writing this i realized... don't you think that zombies would smell really bad? you could probably tell when one was sneaking up behind you by the smell... so don't get scared. if you can't smell them, it's just a dream! hahaha!)

Funny, I thought I was the only one with recurring zombie dreams. I also have different settings and characters for each one but my dreams progress. At first I didn't even see any zombies, I just had the idea that I had to hide from them. over time they started becoming more visible and got closer to me. I went from hiding to having to run away to having to fight them. the last dream I had someone I was close to actually got turned into a zombie and I actually tried to kill another zombie. I usually get these kinds of dreams when I am the most stressed out but trying to avoid a problem. Someone else already gave a good answer for the meaning behind the dream. you are stressed and maybe feel like no one will help you or understand your problem. Try hanging out with close friends and talking about what may be bothering you. sometimes it's something that you shoved to the back of your mind and didn't realize it was bothering you.

Sorry about this but this is not a answer. For some reason i go through a phase where i get about 1-3 zombie nightmares in a row.
this is how it goes. so first i am in my dads house with my dad and one of my brothers.i have a pistol.what happens is zombies are everywhere. we run out hop the fence and start running. we run for miles with zobrake mbies not far behind us.(For some reason randomly i dont have the pistol anymore.)We finally reach a hill that is safe and has other survivers. then some how the zombies brake in. then we run to another safe spot we have to rent a room for some reason then when we enter. not long after the zombies brake in again. for some reason my brother and my dad isnt there anymore. the the zombies run after me. i run into a little wooden thing. a bit like a shed but way smaller. i keep pulling the doors so the zombies dont open it. then just before the door opens i wake up scared and my heart beating fast. lookely for me i hardley remember any of my dreams. im just glad that there is other people just like me.

The few dreams I've had about zombies were frightening, though I woke up calmly as if I had been turned. In my first dream of zombies, we were out camping when we were overwhelmed by zombies. I watched my family be killed and managed to save my little sister and brother. We ran with a huge mob chasing us and into this old, run down building.
We were stopped by more zombies, and ran down the hallway into some bi-fold doors. We ran into other survivors there, and i struggled to keep the door shut from all the zombies, I kept asking them "Get me that chair! I need it!" I wanted to put objects in the way of the door for more support, but they just stared at me with blank expressions, other than my siblings who looked terrified. The last thing I remember of the dream is the door bursting open and them all killing me.
I woke up without a sound, though my heart rate was slightly up and my head hurt.

What does it mean to dream about Zombies?
I have recurring dreams about fighting zombies. They occur in several different settings, but usually happen the same way: I'm trying to protect my family - especially my younger sister - against an invasion of zombies. My husband is always safe on the AFB where he works, but I'm left on my...

m having similiar dream for the entire week regardless i havent watched any zombie movies for the past three months. It made unpleasant feeling every time i wake up in morning and felt to puke out. In fact, m having high pressures, increase loads of work, and uncertain relationship. I guess in short those zombies dreams simply means you are livign but dead inside (lot of stress and underpower). Try to relax little bit and you may get in touch with your old friends to ease the stress feelings.

Well, i had that dream many times.. Everyone around me got consumed by the zombies, but somehow I always survived. With me personally I think it means that everyone around me is trying to change me in something i don't want to be. That society wants me to become a sertent way, but i don't want to. I want to keep my own will and not be like everyone else.
