I have a question how do I handle this situtation...my daughter is 19, I am in my mid 40's, when she gets mad she starts beating on me and really hurting me so much that she makes red places on me that last for a good two hours. She sometimes used her fist..she does pot alot, does pot make a person be meaner than usual? I am really scared of her when she starts beating on me. I don't ever strike back at her and never touch her never hurt her..because if I do she will get even more crazier and hurt me even more. So what should I do? Help! don't get this wrong I do love her, she has a small child that I love so dearly...! When she does get mad she throws big abjects around and almost twicew missed the child. I am afraid for him as well. So what is the best way to deal with this? Thansk.

in this state you can go to the courthouse and get mental health papers on someone and have them locked away for 10 days of the best peace of mind you have experienced. They get evaluated and you need to also mention she is using marijuana and they will automatically ck her for that. OR you can go to the court house and get a TPO, temporary protection order, and she cant come near you, and if she violates it off to jail she goes. You do NOT have to put up with this, it is ABUSE. Even though you LOVE her, what she is doing is not right, and she is not being a good example for her kid, who will in turn do it to her. Its a viscious cycle, please get help for you and your family's sake. Most of the time A child is better off in Foster care than in DYSFUNCTIONAL setting like this. Do you want your grandchild to smoke weed and beat his mama? Well look at the example he is being led by, his mother. You are a valuable member of your family, dont let her beat you down emotionally and physically. You are the ONLY one who can prevent this? You can stop it. Ask yourself, this question....DO YOU WANT THINGS TO CHANGE? IF YES, THEN YOU DO SOMETHNG ABOUT IT!
YOU GO MAMA!

There's really a few things to consider here.

First, regardless of what anyone else on here wants to say, pot does not make anyone violent. The government spends millions of dollars a year to make commercials to convince teens not to smoke pot, and their number one reason is that it makes you lazy. Everyone knows that potheads are mellow, and that smoking pot actually causes you to lose motivation. Ill-motivated teenagers do not beat their parents; they are busy getting high with their friends, and don't get mad--when they do, they just smoke, which makes them relax and forget their problems. Anyway.....

You have to consider the fact that if it is acceptable to abuse you, that it is acceptable to abuse any family member; the kids included. It is only a matter of time beforte it spills over onto them as well.

Also to be considered is the fact that your children will only do what they fell they CAN do. There are plenty of parents out there--parent I'm sure you envy at this point--that have teens that would never DREAM of hitting their parents. What, they are magic parents? She hits you, HIT HER BACK. There is a reason why the laws of this country allow you to defend yourself when struck by ANYONE, providing you do so within reason.

My advice is to A.) Start calling the police WITHIN THE 2 HOURS that the red marks exist and filing a report. Go there so she doesn't know. This way, god forbid it should come down to it, the abuse is on record. B.) Visit a lawyer in regards to obtaining custody of the children; you can have custody and allow them to live, be around, visit the kids--whatever. The important thing is--again, god forbid--you have the ability to prevent her from doing the same to her children. C.) Put her in counseling. If she is a mother, and her temper is as bad as it sounds, then get it under wraps now before it goes too far. D.) Sit her down and explain that the way she is behaving is unacceptable, and if she was doing all that you do for her, for someone else, and they treated her this way, how she would feel. E.) Tell her you lover her and it is all for her own good. She may not think anyhting of it now, but when she is older, she will remeber it and agree. When she brings it up when your in your old age, it will put the greatest smile on your face :)

I truly hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck with this difficult situation.

We are parents of these children. There is absolutely no respect in this home. Your daughter should never strike you ever! I know it is hard to raise children, but she is not a child. If she keeps on like this, you need to get her help. Enough is enough! She is an adult, I assume she lives with you. Well there are things you can do. First of all, you are unbelievable, understanding and loving to let this girl live with you, as well as support her and her child. Where is the respect? There is no way you should put up with this abuse. This leads me to ask what is she doing with this poor child? Is she even fit to raise this child. What is this child witnessing? I would have a long long talk with this girl. Let her know that there are things that you can do to put her out and possibly keep that precious child. This should at least put some sense into her. Why do these small children always have to suffer for the wrongs of their mother. You are a good mother, you have given shelter to your daughter, she is not appreciative send her on her way, but if you think the child is in danger, you can keep her through the courts. Don't ever put up with abuse from anyone! I know you love her, but she needs to learn that you have given her alot, it's time to grow up or she will lose everything.

Man, it must be so hard. I would advise calling the police and let them handle it.
I am especially more concerned about the child. Poor thing...

I understand as a mother that you obviously love her. You need to do what is best for her. In the meantime, you need defense as well. Try keeping a broom or something nearby so that when she gets vicious, you can atleast protect yourself.

Let us know what is going on..

My first response is to knock her through the wall.
After that i think you two should go for family counseling. She needs anger management. I would say toss her out to make her wake up but then she would take the child and who knows what she may do? When she isnt home call the mental health association and see what you can do or call a crisis hotline and ask for some ideas .
No , pot does not make you mean normally. But speed and cocaine and crack will. Be careful. But do get help...imagine what she will do to you when you are 65...Bless your heart. I will pray for you two. Maybe you can get her to go to church with you and it might help.

Have her arrested and charge her with aasault. It sounds like she is either a spoiled brat, or on drugs. Either way, get the coiurt to draw blood to see if tshe is on anything. Tough love!

Oterwise, change the locks on all doors, and leave her stuiff outside. She will not be allowed in. Maybe in a few years, she will get the message and appologize. Certainly do not use violence back, but take care to call the cops on her. if you are injured. Have an porder of protection against her. It could easily escalate.

It's called Tough Love, Mom. It's time to move her out. I would let her know that if she doesn't get help, you are going to call Child Protective Services. Your grandson's safety is at risk just as your's is.
Don't let this go on any longer. She is on pot, you said. Things could turn uglier, even deadly. Your daughter needs help.

Report to police, make a restraining order, kick her out from the house and send her to rehab. Love has got nothing to do with it. It just needs to be done. After your daughter is clean, you can show all your love again, and this time, it will be returned twice as much.
