Realistic? To Kill a Mockingbird and The Kite Runner. They are both realistic and brilliant books. I'm 16, and I love them both.

Satan; His Psychotherapy and Cure... (J. Leven) (one of my faves)!!; Great Expectations (C. Dickens); In Cold Blood/ Music For Chameleons/ Handcarved Coffins/ Breakfast At Tiffany's (T. Capote); Of Mice and Men (J. Steinbeck); Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (L. Carroll); Their Eyes Were Watching God (Z.N Hurston); The Adventures of Huck Finn (M. Twain); All Creatures Great and Small (J. Herriot); Rebecca (D. duMaurier); Treasure Island (R.L Stevenson); To Kill A mockingbird (H. Lee); The Moonstone (W. Collins); The Bell Jar (S. Plath); Mrs. Dalloway (V. Woolfe); Brave New World (Aldous Huxley); Alfred Hitchcock's novellas... etc. Of course, I have a more classical taste than some. I'm sure you could find something good through yahoo's search engine if you're interested.

Best of luck!

Sarah Dessen is good. I loved The Truth About Forever. But really any of her novels are good.
Joan Bauer is another favorite author of mine. I loved Hope Was Here.
