If there efforts should succeed, I say "Kudos". If they should fail in there change of direction/plan, will they blame the Republicans?

of course they would blame the republicans. Also the reason why Iraq is such a failure is because republicans worry too much about what the democrats think. We should have just gone in there done what needed to be done with no restrictions and that would have been it.

The Republicans can't win on this issue. The President got them into a war in Iraq. It is and was a mistake of moronic proportions. The House and the Senate were Republican. So blaming the Democrats is not an option although I am sure they will try.
No matter what the Democrats do the White house ultimately makes the decisions when it comes to the troops. Eventually they will realize as they have today they need to plan a withdrawal. The war in Iraq is lost it is over. It is a Civil war and we have no reason to be there.
I hear what if we can find a way to win. Apparently they were not born during Vietnam. Win what? There is no win in this it is a loose loose situation get out stop killing mothers and fathers sons and daughters for no reason.

I think it all depends on the reason for any potential failure. Ending this war is a major effort, complicated by what has already happened. We have made a mess out of a country, and fixing that mess is something that will take a great deal of effort.
Are we willing to allow Iraq to determine it's own future?
Do we allow those who disagree with us to have their say as well?
How much are we willing to spend to rebuild that country?
How many American forces will stay there?
How many?
How long?

Coming up with that plan will take time, and a great deal of wisdom. The best we all can do is to pray and support our troops. Too many of my friends have been there. If I hadn't been discharged medically in 2000, I would have been there. It's a frightening thing and I pray for a good resolution.

First off they didn't say that... they said they wanted the President to give us some direction... Which he couldn't except to say "to win"... But you can bet he'll come up with a way now. We aren't letting the Cons off that easy... this is your war, your screw up... set it down on paper and submit it and we'll tell you whether we like it. I would bet that it will involve forcing the Iraqis to take it over and we back out... You are not going to force democracy down anyones throat. These fanatics will die before they do... so the Iraqis need to take it and run with it or kill each other. Mean while we need to quite offering our guys up as targets. Pull them across the Euphrates river and wait. Oh yea Murtha already told you that, but the Coward in the White house thinks OIL is more important...

The way I see it, things are going to go like this - if the Democrats succeed, Bush's administration will most likely take credit for it. And if things go well, then Bush will probably blame it all on having a Democratic congress working against him. In other words, more of the same from politicians - blame shifting and avoidance.

As for Iraq, Pelosi and the Democrats have yet to explicitly outline their plan for U.S. involvement in the region, but unlike many of her counterparts, Pelosi voted against authorizing the war.

And what about the persnickety allegation that she will skipper tax hikes through the House? Sure she will, said the shoo-in speaker.

"We will revisit the tax cuts at the high end in order to give tax cuts to the middle class, (We will redistribute the wealth.)
" she said.

They can't do much of anything without the help of Bush and the Republicans, every one has to work together to get the job done.

the plan is cut and run which is what they wanted when the towers fell (and will be sung in full force starting in janunary). And yes they will find a way to make it their fault as usual.
