Idleness is very important. It can give the opportunity to assess and recharge. Sleep is a for of idleness as is a pause or a "break". Idle can be compared to passive and also lazy. Taking into account the ambiguity of the proposal, I hope that some light has been shed.

"If I could tell the world just one thing it would be we're all okay, and not to worry cause worry is wasteful and useless in times like these. I won't be made useless, wont be idle with despair, I will gather myself around my faith, lights the darkness most fear.”

“The really idle man get nowhere. The perpetually busy man does not get much farther.”

“If you are idle, be not solitary; if you are solitary, be not idle”

“Some temptations come to the industrious, but all temptations attack the idle”

“Spiritual rest maketh no man idle, spiritual walking maketh no man weary”

“Arguments derived from probabilities are idle"

“As peace is the end of war, so to be idle is the ultimate purpose of the busy”

“The busy man is troubled with but one devil; the idle man by a thousand”

“Curiosity is idle only to those who fail to realize that it may be a very rare and indispensable thing”

only if you are observing silence!that is the best tool for a man to tackle his problems.to much thinking does not solve any problem.you only put strain on yourself.
it should become a habit.talk less, especially if there is nothing important to say.keep it that way!this is a characteristic of being a wise person!
this has nothing to do with laziness, for this weakens the spirit!
our spirit should always be alive and constantly on the move!

To stop and just be allows us to enjoy our own company, to think, and to breathe deeply. It's a luxury that few in the world are afforded--time when we're not working, not doing, not preparing, not sleeping just being. Beautiful moments like these recharge and re-energize so that when we must again do, we do with a lighter heart and a clearer mind.

"Know thyself".

To know thyself you have to spend time with yourself. That time needs to be introspective time.

Introspective time with yourself requires that time to be 'idle' time.

Therefore, idle time is necessary to know thyself.
