Some people call themselves bisexuals at first (when they figure out they have an attraction for their same sex), but then eventually change that self-label to "gay."

That is not the case with everyone though and it is not the case for most bisexual people. Bisexuality is an orientation in of itself. Bisexual guys and gals notice they are different later than gays and lesbians and they also accept their orientation later -- but they KNOW they like both men and women sexually. A key factor here is that bisexual people usually do not feel completely "at home" in the gay and lesbian communities. Bisexuals know they are different than straights but also know they are different than gays or lesbians.

Some bisexual guys call themselves gay because they enjoy the camaraderie and support system of the gay community. Other bi guys figure them out sooner or later though.

If someone is truly bisexual, then no, it does not 'develop' in homosexuality. However, that bisexual person may fall in love with and commit to a relationship with a person of the same sex, so they may end up in a homosexual relationship.
That doesn't necessarily mean they are now homosexual, simply that they found their partner in someone of the same sex. They're still going to be attracted to both sexes.

If you are bisexual and commit yourself into a loving, monogamous relationship with a person of the same sex it doesn't turn you into a homosexual. You'll still feel attraction toward both sexes, it's just that you've chosen to love and commit to someone of the same sex.

I am in a committed relationship with my boyfriend. I am bisexual. It hasn't made me straight. I can still look at a woman and think she is extremely attractive, just as i can with a man.

Does it all really matter? People should not have to explain or defend their sexuality. Just as long as they're happy and safe. <3

Peace.

Not if the Bisexual is truly bisexual. If however, they have been in denial about their true sexuality and only "half admitted" their homosexual status, then yes it would appear that a "Bisexual" could develop into a Homosexual.

I don't think bisexuality develops into either homosexuality or heterosexuality, but instead they find a partner that they want to spend the rest of their lives with emotionally as well as physically.

Most people, through biology, culture , religious upbringing, and other unknowns aplenty - etc. do not have much choice about who they are attracted to - only men or only women. That's their "orientation" - this is true for both straight & (most) gay people.

Some people are born with a choice - it is a lack of orientation.
If you have to call it something, I suppose bisexual is as good as any other label. It's not being half of something, nor is it mixing two other things. It's not a phase that leads to something else. It's merely one manifestation of the spectrum of human sexual expression; an area of life which, IMHO, gets alot more attention than it warrants.

Peace to all,

;-)

If you are bisexual then aren't you really homosexual and heterosexual all in one lovely package. In a monogomaous relationship you would have to either be homosexual or heterosexual by virtue of the limited numbers.

Hey ultimately it should develop into whatever works for you. No need to try and attach a name to it, just be happy with yourself.

Nope, I like men and women, no matter the sex of whoever I settle down with my mutual attraction is not likely to change. Can people please stop making out like all of us bisexuals are closet cases, if we were we would just be with women and claim to be straight.

No. Once bi, always bi.

I don't know any bisexuals who have turned into homosexuals.
