I'm not quite sure. I had a c-section w/ my 1st because she was breech, big and over-due.
V-bac for my second who decided to come early.
I didn't get to have an epidural because I progressed too fast and missed my window of time for the good stuff.
I only had a "demerol cocktail" !! I slept between contractions and just dealt with it as it came, a lot of cursing and only about 10-15 minutes of pushing and it was all over but the crying !!
We broads are tough, mother nature made us that way, ya know?

are bodies are designed for this, so in essence so are our minds.
I was scared about labour, but realised early on that it is about your state of mind. Use braxton hicks as a way of working out what works for you and what you expect from your partner.
I talked my mind into believing it was going to be like the worst pain I could ever imagine, and while it was bad, it wasn't that bad.
I actually found labour a very spiritual experience. I knew the pain was short lived, and the reward at the end is worth going through that a hundred times.
Try to consider going natural, if possible, i did for my second and it wasn't as bad as people made out. 1/2 hour later I was walking around, able to bath my baby, have some light dinner and a cup of tea...and the pain wasn't nearly as bad as the first time round, which was induced and had epidural (that didn't work) and gas.

Labor pains are very painful
Epidural is the way to go
Women have been coping with labor pains for a very long time
You quickly forget all that pain when you hold that sweet baby in your arms for the first time

On my third child I sat in a rocking chair with no pain killers and the nurse had to tell me I was having strong contractions, my back hurt but I thought it was all the extra weight, but it took no time for her to get here.

Screw the epidurals! Go natural... it's so empowering.
A woman's body is made for birthing... Take a class in natural birth even if you decide you want an epidural you'll still have all the relaxation techniques.

I think it's just something you literally deal with one contraction at a time. It's something your body is built to deal with, and you withstand it because you don't have any choice. To say it's not easy is the understatement of the millenium, but you can do it if you must.
