hi, my computer wont boot up and there are some documents that i really need. Would it be possible to take the hard drive out and put it in a different computer to recover the information?

Yes it is possible. Take it and hook it up as the slave, by moving the little plastic piece to the appropriate setting. Most hard drives have a little chart to show you where. Boot up, and copy your needed info to the other HD. GL !

Remember though, if the reason the hard disk won't boot up is because of a problem on the hard disk, then it will not matter what computer you put it in. A corrupt hdd is still corrupt; changing location doesn't fix anything.

Yes. It'd be possible. Also, if you are familiar with DOS commands, then boot the system using OS CD and copy them depending on the possibility.

Also post the complete info about the Size of HDD, System Model (Dell/HP etc), OS version etc. And also, most important info: What stage does it fail to boot...???
