Neither. The only thing that will happen is bush will put another person who thinks like Rumsfeld in his place. There will be no change in that aspect. However, the person taking his place has to deal with a Democratic Congress, so now he needs to come up with an exit strategy. Rumsfeld didn't feel like dealing with it. That's why he "cut and ran"...

Let us all celebrate!! I have not had an alcoholic beverage in years but tonight will be different. Now ask me if I feel safer as an American. My answer is Almost! I little more tonight and slightly even more in January.

I have to add this from the Associated Press...

The electoral rebuke for President Bush and the resignation of his defense secretary, both deeply unpopular away from American shores over the Iraq war, was celebrated throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia

From Paris to Pakistan, politicians, analysts and ordinary citizens said Wednesday they hoped the Democratic takeover of both Houses of Congress would force Bush to adopt a more conciliatory approach to global crises, and teach a president many see as a "cowboy" a lesson in humility.

Good Riddance Rumsfeld, Save a seat for George!
Isn't it funny that now that America has spoken...Bush wants to retract his answer about the resignation and say it was all in the plans. A week ago, Donald was suppose to stay the term. Bush knows that he and his administration has not done anything good for America. He is just not man enough to admit it. It took "We the People" to go to polls and shout it out to him.

Donald Rumsfield took his cut of the money and got the hell out of dodge. Chaney and Bush is using this move to make the people think they are smart enough to walk to school or carry their lunch.

Celebration. With James Baker and Lee Hamilton presenting their proposals from the Iraq Study Group around Thanksgiving, there is no way Rumsfeld will fit into that.

CELEBRATION! MAJOR CELEBRATION! Rumsfield would have done nothing other than to wage war with the dems now that the dems have the upper hand. However, it isn't as though he's EVER done ANYTHING for the good of this country in the first place. VODKA FOR ME TONIGHT!!!!! WOOO HOOOO

Sorry Sam but the Republicans have taken over for years and look where we are today. Doesnt look like a great place to be when so much is wrong. men and women losing jobs left and right, no health insurance, war, death, terrorism. My point is... no matter who is in office anywhere, there will be something wrong. We all can't be satisfied and we certainly never will be

Most of the career people in the DOD are glad to see him go.
Ever think the Army Times would say the secretary has to go ?
Amazing what arrogance and eneptitide can accomplish.

Get with the program. rumsfeld resigned early this afternoon, and was replaced by Bob Gates. Google him. He's not anybodys lapdog.
But he still has to be approved by the powers in charge.
