AL: Johan Santana
NL: Brandon Webb
The awards will be announced Nov 14 for the NL and Nov 16 for the AL.
Overview:
Johan Santana will run away with the AL Cy Young. He was very close in getting the Triple Crown, leading the league in strikeouts (245), ERA (2.77) and was tied in wins (19) with Wang from NYY. He posted an amazing 19-6 record, making 34 starts, and helping the Twins reach the postseason. He also posted a WHIP of 1.00. Johan Santana is a sure bet.
Other pitchers in the AL will fall very short. Wang from the NYY also managed to go 19-6, however he had a higher ERA (3.63), and low strikeout totals (76K's in 218 innings). Plus being on a Yankee team with that batting order to score alot runs for you every game plays into effect on how many wins he recieved this year.
Another candidate, whom I thought would have made this a two way race would be Roy Halladay. Surely it was between him and Santana, until Halladay ran into some bad luck near the end of August, and getting injured in the middle of September. He went 16-5 with a 3.19 ERA pitching 220 IP in 32 starts. If i had to pick between both pitchers on the fact on who I would want at the top of my rotation I'd go with Halladay over Santana. Halladay can eat up innings, is dominant pitching in the AL East, one of the best, if not the best pitcher in the Majors.
Overall: Santana will run away with this award.
NL: Two way race between Carpenter and Webb. Put it this way, the selection of pitchers in the NL for this award is just a joke.
Chris Carpenter will recieve consideration for the NL Cy Young, the second year in a row. He deserves it: 15-8, 3.09 ERA, 221.2 innings, 184 K's, 5 CG and 3 SHO. He helped St. Louis make the postseason with his conistent pitching throughout the whole season. However Webb leads Carpenter in some categories.
Brandon Webb went 16-8 with a 3.10 ERA, notching 235 innings, alongside with 178 K's and also 5 CG and 3 SHO.
Overall it will be a close race between both Carpenter and Webb. It will be tough to decide who wins, though im leanings towards Brandon Webb winning the 2006 NL Cy Young.

I think JOHAN SANTANA is a Sure Bet for AL Cy Young (16 wins, 2.77 ERA and 245 K's)...
The NL is much harder though... since there was no ABSOLUTE DOMINANT pitcher this year (like Santana on the AL)...
My Guess will be Chris Carpenter (15 W's, 3.09 ERA, 184 K's), because besides the fact that he had a very good season (probably the best for any starter in the NL), he also helped his team on the postseason...
But, I've been watching on ESPN and MLB.com... that some people are rooting for TREVOR HOFFMAN (2.14 ERA, 46 Saves)... since despite the fact that he blew the save on the All-Star Game, he had a TERRIFIC season, and he became the ALL TIME LEADER in saves...
Like I said, there was not an ABSOLUTE DOMINANT pitcher in the NL, so I wouldn't be surprised if he wins... We'll just going to have to wait and see...

How humorous is it that you ask about Kevin Millwood, even as he replaced into honestly an rather solid pitcher even as he replaced into with the Atlanta Braves. He replaced into between the pitchers who pushed the Braves to the international series in 1999. His stats that three hundred and sixty 5 days were good the following... IP: 228 W-L: 18-7 era: 2.sixty 8 SO: 205 WHIP: 0.996 now to not instruct he finished in third position for the nationwide League CY youthful Award that three hundred and sixty 5 days. that is humorous purely how a lot gamers can replace to the point the position people ignore them altogether. honestly, i do not recognize what the deal is with figuring out on who receives the MVP and CY youthful Awards. there have been many gamers over the years who i idea were given robbed of that opprotunity. now to not instruct that those awards were given to Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens way TOO many times! even as it comes all the way down to it, I have found that the MLB provides those awards to who the followers favor to make sure receive the award. I consider you, it may nicely be depending soley upon wins, losses, and era, yet that of route isn't the case once you've Tim Lincecum triumphing the CY youthful Award even as he purely had 15 wins very last three hundred and sixty 5 days.

AL: Johan Santana is pretty much a lock.
NL: Its a close race between Chris Carpenter and Brandon Webb. (Oswalt and Zambrano might sneak in a few votes but I doubt they'll win.) If I had to guess, I'd say Carpenter will win.

Johan Santana, by unanimous vote.
In the NL, I'll go with Zambrano. OK, Carpenter's and Webb's numbers might be a little better, but I choose Zambrano as the underdog on that race.
Ah.....And I can't help picking him because he's from Venezuela (like me), so that both winners would be from my home country.

The AL is really a no-brainer for the Cy Young if you ask me, Santana all the way.
In the NL, I think Carpenter will get it and the Cards winning it all helps him there.

Sorry to be mean, but you think Santana..
Man.. don't go out on a limb or anything..
I would be stunned if Santana was not unanimous.
Carpenter or Webb for NL - Carpenter because of STL posteason.
