If a baby dies before three months, they will give you a D&C. If it's in the fourth or beginning of the 5th onth, you can either have a D&C or deliver from induced labor. Once the baby is past this point, induced labor is the only way to go.

Frequently, your body will go into labor on it's own, but when it doesn't the procedure is to be given medicinal tablets vaginally every few hours that cause your body to go into labor within 24-48 hours. It is painful, especially if you are nowhere near your due date, because your body isn't ready to go into labor, and it has to adjust to the effects of the medicine fast. If no D&C is performed, then the baby's body needs to either be cremated or buried, and you cannot leave the hospital with it (a funeral home will bring it to you later). It's up to you if you want to have a service. There is no birth certificate for children who die before they are born. Legally, you do not have a child (i.e. can't claim taxes, etc.) It takes some time for your bidy to return to normal, and you have to deal with your breast milk coming in. Very sad.

I have had three such pregnancies. Two of the pregnancies aborted themselves. The last time I was 7 months pregnant and had to be induced as I was very very ill. Unfortunately, I had to sign papers to abort my baby and after he was born we were not allowed to have a funeral. We were shocked to find out that if you have an abortion, even if the baby is dead you lose the right to have your baby treated like a baby.

Fortunately I was able to give birth to 3 live daughters who are 24, 28 and 30 now.

peace

Do you mean a full term baby??
My friend had a still born, the nurses gave her the option of giving birth or a C-Section. She chose to be induced and give birth.
She has since then given birth to a little boy who will be 2 monday and is pregnant again.

The mother still must give birth to her baby. Two people in my family have gone through this and it is very traumatic time for the mother. To go through the pain of childbirth and to know that you won't even be able to raise the baby. They also said that the pain is MUCH worse than regular childbirth, and you feel as if you are dying. It's really very sad.

This all depends on how far along you are. If you are 3 months like my friend was she had the choice of having a D&C or passing it naturally within a month.

If it happens later on you will have to have the baby and then a funeral will be done.

If you are asking because this happened to you or a friend, I am terribly sorry.

If you're wondering what this is called, it's called a miscarriage.
There are many different reasons as to why the baby died, some of these the mothers fault and some not. Here's a resourceful site...

My baby died when I was seven months pregnant. All you can do is wait for the onset of labor, or allow your doctor to induce labor. It was a very sad and difficult day for me. He was a beautiful baby... :'( And you have to be prepared for your body to 'think' you gave birth to a healthy baby. Your breast milk will come in, and your breasts will harden. Your hormones will make your sadness seem tenfold.

Stillborn, they have to be delivered soon before the mother gets infected.
