Hi.

I scanned my computer and got five problems
(Advertising.com, Avenue A, Inc; Casale Media, Double Click & MediaPlex).

Well, I clicked "Fix Problems", and they were all gone successfully, then scanned my computer again to make sure they're gone, but they're STILL problems.

How do I get rid of my problems for good, and what are spywares?

thanks.

oops. I didn't mean to ask what is spyware. I meant to say "is this spyware?"

referring to why?'s question, yes I did check them all. I keep deleting them and it claims that all problems were fixed, then I scan again, and it keeps coming back! I've done this over four times in a row already. It's really frustrating. >:-(

Actually, none of these answers will work. You know why those keep coming back? They're not spyware, they're cookies. You can delete them very very easily. If you use -

Firefox: Go to Tools>Clear Private Data>Check all boxes available>OK

Internet Explorer>Tools>Internet Options>Cookies/Browsing History>Delete>OK

Restart your computer and run a Spybot scan. They should be gone. Good luck!!

Install "Ad-Aware SE Personal" to work together within Spybot. It can remove things that Spybot is unable to.

To keep your system safe, you need an anti-virus, an anti-spyware, a firewall and an ad ware killer (all working together).

Spybot is a good free anti-spyware.
Ad-Ware SE Personal is a good free ad ware killer.
Zone Alarm is a good free firewall (if you have WinXP, you can use its firewall for free also).

About the files you told: they are components installed with some programs, or internet browser plug ins. Not too bad, but can let your computer very slow. Remove then all.

Spyware is a broad category of software designed to intercept or take partial control of a computer's operation without the informed consent of that machine's owner or legitimate user. While the term taken literally suggests software that surreptitiously monitors the user, it has also come to refer more broadly to software that subverts the computer's operation for the benefit of a third party.

Spyware can collect many different types of information about a user. More benign programs can attempt to track what types of websites a user visits and send this information to an advertisement agency. More malicious versions can try to record what a user types to try to intercept passwords or credit card numbers. Yet other versions simply launch popup advertisements. While some forms of spyware can certainly be considered malicious, some on the other hand certainly are not, and are more passive in nature by just watching, observing, and collecting information.

Many legitimate companies are now beginning to incorporate forms of spyware, and adware into their software, mainly for purposes of advertisement. While these types of programs are not to be considered spyware in the most malicious sense, they are still spyware in the sense of watching, and observing, with advertisement in mind, making them a form of what is called adware.

---

Make sure you regularly up-date your anti-spyware & anti-virus software from the manufacture's website (have the actual software set to automatically up-date).

Try using more than just one software. No software is 100%. What may slip through one can usually be picked up by another.
Example:
SpyBot
AdAware

Did you select them all (I know it sounds stupid, but did you?). These are not spywares, but tracking cookies, and what is being found may be new since you last cleaned up.
