Abortion is legal, but if someone takes the life of a pregnant woman, they are more than likely going to be charged with killing two people. Why?

So the mother can kill the baby (if she wants) and its legal, but if anyone does, it's illegal.....can anyone tell me the logical part of that?

Because it's legal to have your baby aborted IF YOU CHOOSE TO.
It's not legal to abort a baby if the mother WANTS the baby.

It does depend on the case and how far along the baby was, but you have brought up a very good point. While the Constitution guarantees the right to life and liberty to every person, the Supreme Court decreed in 1973 that an unborn child is not a person... if it is unwanted. The criteria seems to often be if the baby is wanted or not... that decides if it's a person. Oh, yeah, it's a messed up system to be sure. The mother decides if it's a person, or just garbage to be disposed of.
Oh, and to comment on one of the other answers, it's never a choice for the baby. As a former fetus, I oppose abortion.

No, they will be charged of one in some states. And, why you ask? Probably 'cause there was another HUMAN BEING inside the mother. But, if it's younger than 2 months, they might not charged with two people, because if the baby is less than 2 months, they are just a bunch of cells.

That's not true. You cannot currently be charged for murder on an unborn baby, especially if the fetus is not developed enough to survive outside of the womb. There are other things you will be charged with instead. Look at Scott Peterson - he murdered his wife when she was nine months pregnant and recieved ONE murder rap, not two.

Well abortion is an option and a choice for the pregnant female, but being murdered isn't. Plain and simple.

actually abortion is not legal in every state, the state my aunt lives in abortion is illegal.
I am STRONGLY against abortion but the diffrence between a woman getting ab abortion and someone killing her is that the woman chose to kill her baby where if she was pregnant and killed it is obvious she wanted her baby.

Damn good question. It doesn't make any sense...whether or not it's murder is determined only by what the mother wants, not by the act itself. To be consistent they should create a law that allows a mother to kill her children anytime she wants and it won't be called murder.
And to the person above me: you also are just a bunch of cells.

Because that person does not have the baby growing inside of them and it's not their choice whether the baby lives or not!!
