My husband is complaining of knee pain. Here are a few details...he says he didn't injure it recently, but it comes and goes a few times a year. When it hurts he says its always achy. It doesn't hurt when he straightens it. It does hurt when he bends it or puts weight on it. He says the pain goes all the way through his calf, but not above the knee into his thigh. He says it doesn't hurt to touch it, and he doesn't know if either heat or cold makes it feel better or worse. He's 27 years old and had injured his knee in high school. He had to have fluid taken out of his knee over 10 years ago.

It sounds like what mine started as. Which I talked to a physical therapist friend and he said it is called. "pattela-femoral syndrome" where the kneecap is too big and it is trying to slip out of the small channel that it travels up and down in. I was also told that to fix it, longterm not short, is two strengthen the quad muscles in the thigh. If it starts popping out, and if it's what mine started as it is likely, then that may be it. But i'm not a doctor and don't pretend to be one, I just know thats what mine is and when it does pop out, squating is the way to get it back in.
