why do all these guys keep running into each other?

Because that's where all the fun is. Getting the ball anywhere is secondary.

it is called defense. if someone has the ball the defense wants to tackle that person in order to receive a down. 4 downs means an automatic turnover which means the other team gets the ball. usually the linebackers do a lot of the tackling they want to get the ball and they are gonna try to stop as many people on the offense as possible from obtaining the ball.
i think that you should start watching football more intentitivly because you could learn a lot by yourself..i mean mostly everyone knows why they are running into each other. it isn't just for the heck of it, it is to somehow obtain the ball. i suggest that you start watching ESPN.

Now I understand why they are having the girls in our school take football as part of the gym curriculum....so they don't ask stupid questions like this one. Why watch it if you know that little about it???
