what is the piece that extends off the end of a curtain rod? It's plastic, or used to be,to slide curtains on

It looked like a tongue, hence the search I did on curtain rod tongues and came up empty.
any help on buying one would be appreciated.

I onle ever knew them as "end caps" for curtain rods. Suggest a hardware store or a fabric store as they usually have them
