well first of all verdun is hunded of miles from the sea. however, if you mean from america to france, at an average speed of 25 knots, it would take about 5.5 days, depending on the exact departure and arrival points

the WW1 US battleships....Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico etc could, wide open desperate emergency ahead could do 22 knots.....they cruised at about 19.......when Nevada took President Wilson to France for the Versailles/Leauge of Nations Conference, she took 8.5 days, New York to Brest.
