If it is in a sink or basin you would be better off removing the trap and seeing if clearing at the trap fixed the problem.

Well not really enough info to determine the best result. If you are doing this to winterize something the best bet would be using an air compressor to fit the inlet and blowing air through till dry. If you do not have an air compressor sometimes this can be done with a shop vac by sealing off piping system and attach hose to one end and put in vacuum and or blowing it out. Hope this helps!

another way to clean out a water line is to hook up a wet/dry vacuum to the end off the line and suck out the water or obstruction

i guess you mean in a sink.just force air pressure down the hole .block off best you can.i use a compressor.sometimes you can use a plunger.
