take it to a local coin dealer. they can evaluate it and tell you how much it's worth. or you spend it just like any other penny and it would be worth $0.01.

Maybe 10 cents, not a lot, I know. I have a penny from 1901, not worth much. And a buffalo head nickel from 1863, that's worth more.

The 1912-D cent has a mintage of 10,411,000. The rarest of this date is the one with the S on it. In grade good: date worn but apparent, lines in wheat (on reverse) missing, must have full rims. Then it's value is around $5.00. Less if in a poorer grade and more if it grades higher.

If you go on E-Bay you can type in 1921 Penny and you can get an idea what it is the value.

If the penny is a D (Denver mint), prices range from (6.00 to 200.00 dollars) depending on condition of the coin. if it is an S (San Francisco mint) prices range from (12.00 to 175.00 dollars) depending on condition of coin.
