i've always heard of diesel engines lasting really long, but is that just semi diesels? what about the duramax?

gm states that a duramax that is used and abused heavily on a daily basis will still pass the 200,000mi mark, as long as there aren't any power programmers on it. if you take good care of it and don't beat on it every day all day and don't put on those programmers it all depends on how well you take care of it.

If maintained properly it should last anywhere from 700,000 miles to 1,500,000 before needing to be rebuilt

My friend's has 329,000 miles on it and it's still as powerful as the day he got it. he travels across the country all the time.
