Okay, I have been dating my guy for about a year. It been a pretty solid relationship. My woman's intuition has been telling me for the last couple of weeks that he had been really distracted. He a few personal issues that he is dealing with and I recognize that a lotof the time he just does not want to talk or be bothered. Today he tells me that he did not think it wa a good idea to get together later because he " is really irritated for some reason and he needs some time to figure out why". I told him to take all the time he needs and I am okay with it. I feel guilty because I was sort of thinking the same thing. I did not need the space persay but I was going to offer it to him. When a man needs space could it be that that is all it is to it? Does it always mean he wants to break up or see other people? I have no reason to suspect that he wants to date other people. I really believe he would just tell me if that was it. Any thoughts?

I disagree with the first answer. Sometimes I'm just annoyed and need to be alone so I don't become impatient with others. It has nothing to do with the people around me. It could be financial, work related, a math problem kicking my butt Basically anything that is requiring me to focus intensely will cause me to become frustrated by distractions. A bit of time to work through it and life is right as rain and I haven't hurt anybody's feelings. I could work through it with somebody asking questions or trying to keep me company but in the end I'll be bad company and not appreciate their effort. I don't think its so unusual to need to focus or become annoyed when you can't but what might be unusual is caring enough to recognize when you're in that situation and sparing others your annoyance.

I think that because you have been together a year, you're on solid ground. If he wanted to break up with you, he would say "I think we need to start seeing other people." He's iritated by something whether it's the relationship, work, family, etc. By giving him the space he asks, he won't feel pressured to please everyone and can figure out what's bothering him.

(not a man) He is blowing you off. Try to find other interests.

He doesn't have the nards to tell you that he wants to see others outside your relationship.

You should blow HIM off. (just my opinion)
