I'm trying top go to school for it when I'm alright financially. The school probably won't be that hard, but I know that the business part will be. I just wanna know where can I go online or who can I call about this. Also I want to open up a massage therapy spa when I complete my schooling for everything.

The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Associations may be a good avenue to explore. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* Success Beyond Work: What Prosperous Massage Therapists Know--Minimum Work, Maximum Profits, and a Sellable Business by Colleen Holloway
* Marketing Massage: How to Build Your Dream Practice by Monica Roseberry
* The Educated Heart: Professional Guidelines for Massage Therapists, Bodyworkers and Movement Teachers by Nina McIntosh

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Generating sales is the most important part of any business. Prior to starting, you need to identify:

1) Who is most likely to purchase your services? For example, do you think doctors, lawyers, athletes, or professionals who work on their feet all day would be the best source of customers?

2) What they read; where they go, and what they do for fun? Do they read newspapers/magazines, browse the internet, or attend social organizations?

3) Develop methods of informing them of your services. Do you place an ad in a paper, hire a telemarketer, or purchase time on a radio station.

Before you spend any money into a new business, you should ask yourself how much you know about the business. If you know nothing about it, you should never start a business on your own. It does not matter how much schooling you have on the field. Even medical doctors have to practise several years before they can have their own office.

I suggest you find a job first after finishing school. Learn more about the business before you invest any money on it.

Call someone who is already in the business and ask them how they got started.
