Just means that you have so much Weighing on you, you are stressed and need some Me-Time, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO DIE: YOU WILL BE OK, Just try not to eat to late before bed and try taking a nice warm bubble bath relax w/candles before bed try drinking some sleepy time tea of cat-nip, these are herb tea's that relax your nerves. Exercise a bit make this apart of your daily routine, You must do something to EASE your mind and relax you, Eliminating the Stress, you waking up from your sleep out of breath just means that you are tossing and turning in your sleep is so not good, Now if you are of age and are married or a great partner that you love/trust and vice/versa A GREAT NIGHT OF 30 minutes to 1hour SEX will HELP A GREAT DEAL, If you are under age LOOK OVER that last statement. LOL All in All take care of self, try eating right and things should get better, SWEET DREAMS (good night) .

Dream of self death could mean you are losing control or giving up on things in reality. You may be stressed on things you can't control and perhaps you are losing confidence in real life. That is why you projected that kind of dream.
However, if you feel so real, and out of breathe. That could mean something may go wrong physically. If it only happens once, that is okay. If it happens often, that could be major problem. Brain, mind, heart and our bodies are one.
Some times brian activities can control over our body and caused actual death. For example, if you are a heart patient and you may have chance of heart attack if you have nightmare or bad dream

It's not abnormal to have these dreams, what would be is if you dreamt you actually died. Many believe if this occurs you're actually dead. Stress, violent movies and books are a few of the things which can cause these types of dreams to keep occurring

first and foremost, it could be that you did stop breathing in ;your sleep. It is a known condition that many people have but most do not die. Secondly it could be that some part of your life/beliefs may have died and been replaced with a firm new set of beliefs, or a new stage of life.
